Happy Thursday! Welcome to my 40’s! Yes, you read that correctly! Life just got real ladies! Let me start out by saying that this is going to be the most sarcastic yet real, unedited post that I’ve ever written on my blog!
As many of you already know, I turned 40 last September and let’s just say that it has taken several months for me to even adjust to that concept. I am at the age that we once considered old when we were kids. Trying to grasp that alone is a whole other subject. Since then, I have no other words to describe the “Hot Mess” that I have become in some aspects therefore I wanted to share them with you all today!
What I thought was heartburn was diagnosed as Costrochondritis! Yes, I was also thinking what in the he** is that? According to the doctor, it is an inflammation of the cartilage in the rib cage and it usually affects the cartilage where your upper ribs attach to your breastbone (sternum), an area known as the costosternal joint. Well last week I started feeling pain in the middle of my chest area.
I tried to think of what could have caused it as I have not lifted anything heavy at home in the last couple of weeks and I have not gone to the gym (I’ll get to that next). I attributed it to heartburn and chewed on a couple of Rolaids. The pain went away very briefly and returned just as quickly so I went to the doctor first thing Monday morning.
They performed an EKG first, then I went to radiology to have a chest x-ray performed and finally a H Pylor test where you basically take a deep breath, hold it and blow it out into a balloon shaped like one of those applesauce pouches. Then I had to drink this clear stuff and wait fifteen minutes and repeat the breathing into the pouch process. You’re probably thinking, oh that all sounds like fun right? Negative!
I met with the doctor again and THANKFULLY everything came back negative. My chest x-ray was clear, lungs look good and heart appears to be fine. He did recommend that he treat me to see if I had acid reflux as he stated that symptoms of that could cause discomfort in your sternum. I said okay let’s do it that is until he handed me a list of food and drinks that I should avoid for the next two weeks to see if it makes any difference.
Great! I didn’t even get halfway through the list before I realized that coffee was #1 on the list! WHAT? I can’t have coffee? Are you kidding? Have you met me? I should have worn one of my twenty coffee themed shirts so he could get a clue. I could do without 75% of the foods and drinks on the list but not coffee. I did go the entire day on Tuesday without coffee and by the time I got home, I had the worst headache.
Yeah, no! I am not giving up coffee! I mentioned all of this on Snapchat and my sweet blogging friend Becky messaged me stating that she too was diagnosed with acid reflux and the one thing that she was not willing to give up was coffee! LOL Like I said, I will give up the other stuff by not my coffee!
Now before I go any further, YES I am 100% thankful that everything looked good according to the doctor and before I forget to mention, I also have to go in two weeks to take a stress test. I am sure that many of you know what that entails but if not, it’s when they plug you up to all these machines and you have to walk / run on a treadmill. Fabulous! Can’t Wait! I’ll be sure to update you all on that once it’s over.
Ok, onto the other stuff….
This is where my planner madness comes into play because it has gotten to the point that if I do not write every little thing down, it’s a wrap or shall I say a lost cause. I can remember song lyrics and other stuff from 20+ years ago but don’t ask me what I wore to work yesterday or anything else that requires short term memory.
Many of you are probably wondering why I haven’t posted my goals for the month of March yet I mean it’s only the 9th already! Yeah well, I don’t think I am brave enough to share those with you because February kind of kicked my butt with all of the #Adulting stuff going on in combination of raising a teenager in this day and age but just know that I am trying to get back on track but it’s not the end of the world if I never get to that post.
I did accomplish one of my goals which was to continue watching my spending as I have been trying to raise my credit score. I have been working really hard to do so in order to attain a certain goal of mine. I can finally say that it is a Tier 1 credit score so Cheers to That! I have accomplished a few more goals in that field but I am not ready to share them just yet!
Yeah, I remember where it is but I just haven’t been there! No Bueno! I need to kick my own butt into gear but that is just not acceptable. I haven’t gone in the last week though due to the chest pain that I have been dealing with because the last thing I need is for something to happen as a result of being careless with my health. I need to get myself back in the grind so make sure you’re following me on Snapchat for updates on that!
On the Home front!
I’ve fallen into the habit of putting things in places and then forgetting where I put them! Not fun when you’re looking for something that you know you just saw but don’t have a flipping clue as to where you put it! Thank goodness it’s almost time for spring cleaning! OMG like who actually says that? Me, I just did! LOL
Well ladies, I hope that I gave you all a good laugh today. If any of you can relate to this madness, please leave me a comment and let me know that I am not alone in this.
