Hello everyone and welcome to THE PLANNER LOWDOWN! I wanted to create a planner series for all of my planner girls out there so I hope that you all enjoy it! As I mentioned in a previous post, the year is almost over and I don’t know about you but I couldn’t start a new year without knowing which planner I wanted to use (or attempt to use) in the new year. If you follow me on IG (which I hope you do), you already know via my IG Stories and a couple of pics in my feed, that I have decided to go back to the classic sized Happy Planner. Don’t get me wrong, I love Kate, I really do but it’s just not big enough for me. I’ve contemplated using her as a wallet but we’ll see. I’ll keep you posted on what I decide.
Before I continue, just know that there’s some major sarcasm and #plannerhumor coming your way
Yes, you heard me correctly LOL #dontjudge On Black Friday, I decided to treat myself to a few things. I knew that starting January 1st, I needed a bigger planner as one of my goals is to start buckling down financially and I wanted to keep that separate from my other monthly tasks. Michael’s had the biggest sale plus bonus coupons so I had to make it worth breaking my no spend for the second time this year. The budget planner was only $10 but as I mentioned in my IG story, waiting a month to start the classic and budget planners was not an option so I purchased both the budget and calendar extender packs so that I could start using it immediately. Ladies, don’t act like you have ever waited patiently for anything planner related! Yeah, I see you! LOL
I know what you’re thinking… Mitzi really, you couldn’t wait one more month? Nope! But….. in my defense the extender packs were only $3.00 each after sales and coupon so it was worth it.
So anyway…. that night while watching Netflix (of course), I laid everything out on my couch and started thinking about how I wanted to actually set it up. I started by taking six months out of the classic planner as I do not want it to be too bulky and I do not plan that far in advance. I inserted one month from the budget extender pack into the classic planner right after the December monthly and weekly layouts. Starting next month, I will do the same except I will use the inserts from the actual budget planner that I purchased.

Before I continue, here is a pic of this week’s layout #beforethepen
At this point, I had switched to watching planner videos on You Tube and that’s where I saw a women set up her planner just as I described above. I figured I would give it a try and that’s when I remembered that I still have the plastic dividers from the mini planner so I could re purpose those to be used in between the monthly/weekly layout and the budget section for that month. The advantage of having numerous planners just laying around is that you can find things from each one and find new uses for them. The other reason why I like the Happy Planner is that you can easily remove the pages, insert printables and more as long as you have the arc disc hole punch. If you do not have the whole punch, you can use a single hole punch and simply cut tiny slits in each one so that they easily can be inserted into the planner.
Speaking of printables….
Last month, I created a bunch of printables for the happy planner. If you subscribe to my newsletter, you will directed to my Thank you page where you will be able to download them immediately for your own personal use. If you do subscribe, first of all THANK YOU and if you download the printables, I’d love to see how you incorporate them into your planners. If you post pictures, please be sure to tag me on IG @Theinnovativelatina and don’t forget to use the hashtag #TILPrintables so that I could check them out.
