Happy Tuesday! Welcome to the another edition of Café de las Tres. In just a couple of months, I will be celebrating my second Blog-a-versary. For those of you who are new to my blog, I started this journey in January of 2014 to serve as a creative outlet in my spare time. A lot has changed since then, blog themes, photo design and most importantly my writing style. I am grateful for all of the support that I have received thus far from those who take the time out of their day to read my blog, leave comments and interact with me on social media.
As I stated above, my blog is supposed to serve as my creative outlet and the last thing that I ever wanted is for it to feel like a part time job. I work full time and didn’t want to be stressed out about whether I was going to be able to post something new or not. In the last year, I have taken a couple of blogging breaks to avoid what I have heard referred to as “blogger burnout”. For a while, I was posting twice a week, editing photos, spreading the word on social media and planning ahead for future posts. Well that became too much to handle so I needed to take a break to regroup so that I can figure out a system that would work best for me.
There are a lot of opportunities that can arise from being a blogger. I won’t get into the specifics but I will say that I have been doing my research for quite some time. In the past two years, I have taken as many e-courses as I can, watched free webinars and have learned so much from other bloggers. When I first started, I honestly did not realize how much was involved. Many people think that blogging is just as simple as writing a post, taking a picture here and there and that’s it. Well, as many other bloggers can tell you, I can attest to the fact that there is a lot of work that goes into just one blog post.
Earlier this year, I decided that it was best for me to simply blog when I felt the inspiration to do so without the pressure of maintaining an actual posting schedule. While the lack of frequent posts could be my downfall when I am applying for sponsored opportunities, there are many aspects that I can improve on in the meantime . The problem is that I need to make sure that I don’t get myself back to where I feel the burnout stage coming on again. I want to continue to write when I feel inspired, but I just may need to do a few simple things to tweak the post a little more to gain more attention.
