Hi everyone! I hope that you all had a wonderful weekend. I thought it would be a good idea to give you a mini update as to how I’ve been doing since I started using my Fitbit again. For those of you who haven’t read my last blog post and/or seen my pictures on Instagram or follow me on Snapchat, I joined a fitness challenge at work with my colleagues.
The purpose of the challenge is to not only encourage us to be healthier overall but also to get us away from desks. I will admit that there have been many times where I should have left the office for lunch to get some fresh air. The weather is slightly improving here in Connecticut so I decided to join the challenge. This is an addition to my commitment of working out no less than three days a week either at home or at the gym.
Since I started using the Fitbit, it has definitely been the key motivator to get me to step away from my desk and get outside! I started the hashtag #stepawayfromthedeskandwalk when posting pictures to Instagram, you will see that hashtag mentioned on all of the pictures that I post that involve some type of exercise activity. If you would like to participate and share your walking/exercise pics with myself and my readers, make sure to use that hashtag so that we can see them. Let’s start a movement!
If you see a zero for a particular day, that either meant that I was guilty of not charging it or I was at the gym using my Polar watch instead as it monitors my heart rate (this particular Fitbit does not monitor heart rate). Because I do use the Polar activity watch at home and the gym, I definitely do not want to wear both at the same time therefore I have decided to primarily wear the Fitbit during the work week. The website that we are using to keep track of our challenge activity allows us to sync our Fitbit devices which is amazing because I probably would forget to log in everyday and update it.
Here’s a closer look at each week since my start date of 3/2/16:
Well that wraps up this mini Fitbit update. I’ll be back with another update next month and hopefully these numbers will be a lot higher. If you’d like to be Fitbit friends, send me an invite to firstname.lastname@example.org. As always, I love to hear from you so let me know how you are doing with your health goals / challenges? What are you doing to keep yourself motivated and/or accountable? Please let me know in the comments!
