Have you ever heard of the foundation Barbells for Boobs? If your answer is no, then I ask that you please continue reading because this information could be very beneficial to you and hopefully you will want to share what you have learned today with your family and friends. Barbells for Boobs is a foundation that was created in 2009 by a wonderful woman named Zionna Hanson also known as “Z”.
When a really good friend of hers was diagnosed with breast cancer at a very young age, she knew that she had to do something to help her friend and other women and men obtain the services that they need to get the proper screening, procedures and more. I received an email from Z today and she provided me with a link for you to read all about the Barbells for Boobs brand and how it all started. You can also read more on their website and blog.
The foundation is dedicated to providing individuals the opportunity of obtaining the services that are needed with an emphasis on women under the age of 40 and men too. They have had a huge impact of services directly provided through their grant program which has resulted in: 26K procedures provided, 14k individuals served and 150 cases of breast cancer have been detected. They believe that early detection is the key however as we all know there are gaps in our healthcare system. The foundation works to fill these gaps primarily for women under 40, men and anyone dealing with financial situations by providing access to screening and diagnostic procedures and serves as a last resort for those without any other options.
Crossfit gyms across the globe come together to raise money for this foundation. It’s a fun adrenaline filled event created to bring people together for the cause. This event is composed of several crossfit workouts that are completed by teams of two. The gym is decorated in pink, the weights are wrapped with hot pink duct tape, the DJ is playing the music and everyone is having a great time. Please note that this is not considered a competition. The crossfit community is unlike any other which makes it unique compared to other fitness organizations.
